Euro 2024 Overview & Schedule

Every four years, football fans from Europe and around the world eagerly anticipate the biggest national tournament of the old continent: the European Championship! This year, the ultimate showdown is set to unfold  in Germany from June 14 to July 14. In the following sections, find out the most important details about this highly favored competition among sport bettors and embark on a journey into the heart of Euro 2024.

Euro 2024 qualifiers - an unprecedented adventure

The journey started on 23 March 2023 with the qualifying matches, sparkling excitement to fans from 53 countries. For the Euro 2024 preliminaries teams were sorted into 10 groups.

Group A of the Euro 2024 qualifiers brought together the national teams of Spain, Scotland, Norway, Georgia and Cyprus. Spain and Scotland emerged as the qualifying teams, to the disappointment of Norwegian fans, who were hoping that superstars like Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard would earn them tickets to Germany. Group B consisted of the national teams of France, the Netherlands, Greece, Ireland and Gibraltar. From this group, France and the Netherlands successfully qualified for the Euro 2024 final stage.

Group C witnessed the consolidation of strong teams, with the likes of England, Italy, Ukraine and the inclusion of North Macedonia and Malta. England and Italy, the finalists of the last tournament, managed to qualify from this group. Similarly, Turkey and Croatia advanced from Group D, leaving Wales, Armenia, Latvia and their fans heartbroken and waiting for the next occasion.

Albania emerged victorious in Group E, securing qualification alongside the Czech Republic whereas Poland, the Republic of Moldova and the Faroe Islands, all missed the chance to participate in the Euro 2024 final stage. Belgium and Austria qualified from Group F, while Sweden, Azerbaijan and Estonia will be forced to watch the competition from their homeland.

The winner of Group G was Hungary, followed by Serbia. The two teams will participate in Euro 2024, meaning that the other teams in the group (Montenegro, Lithuania, Bulgaria), missed the opportunity to be part of this huge event. Moreover, Denmark and Slovenia prevailed from Group H, leaving Finland, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland and San Marino out of the Euro 2024 groups.

Romania started its adventure in Group I and after two decades, the tricolors succeeded in the Euro qualifications stage, securing a spot in the Euro 2024 finals! Switzerland also qualified from that group leaving Israel, Belarus, Kosovo and Andorra with no hopes of playing in this prestigious tournament. Finally, Group J was won by Portugal, with Slovakia coming up second. Luxembourg, Iceland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Liechtenstein were all disqualified.

Germany - the host country of Euro 2024

In addition to being a powerhouse in the competition and a nation with a rich football tradition, Germany also brings significant expertise in hosting major sporting events (Olympic Games, World Cup finals, etc.). Euro 2024 matches will be held in 10 stadiums across 10 German cities: Olympiastadion in Berlin, Cologne Stadium in Cologne, BVB Stadium in Dortmund, Dusseldorf Arena, Frankfurt Arena, Arena Aufschalke in Gelsenkirchen, Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Leipzig Stadium, Munich Football Arena and Stuttgart Arena.

Qualified Teams for Euro 2024

Romania, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, Scotland, Italy, Turkey, Austria, England, Hungary, Slovakia, Denmark, Serbia, Albania, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Croatia and Germany (host country) are the teams that have qualified for EURO 2024. During the play-off matches held in March 2024, Poland and Georgia qualified for Group D and Group F, respectively, by winning against Wales and Greece in penalty shoot-outs. Ukraine qualified for Group E by defeating Iceland.

The Euro 2024 begins with the opening match between the host team Germany and Scotland on the 14 of June 2024 at 22:00 in Munich. The tournament´s final is scheduled for July 14, 2024 and will take place in Berlin.
